Iron Moon Farm is a twenty-acre diversified farm, owned by the
Smith family, with each member bringing his/her own unique
talent to the farm.
Conrad and Shirley Smith founded the farm in 1970 as a place for
Shirley’s Appaloosa horses. Even though Conrad passed away in
1995, you can still find Shirley in the 10-stall horse barn with
riding arena. She oversees the care of the animals and provides
riding instruction.
Their son Colin joined the Smiths in 1994. He is the second
generation of the family to work the farm. While producing
quality hay for the farms animals and retail sale, Colin also
helps to maintain the vegetable fields. During the winter
months, you can find him processing firewood or snowplowing to
supplement the farm’s income.
1995, the Smiths started selling corn off the back of a pick up
truck parked in the front yard. This has evolved into a seasonal
farm stand that is open from July to late October. The farm
stand is run by Colin’s wife Wendy and their daughter Catrina.
